Sally Hackett MSE, LPC

Thank you for considering SSH Counseling and Consultation as part of your journey toward healing and personal growth. I’m Sally, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with a Master of Science in Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from University of Dayton and a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University. Following graduation, I was honored to receive the Chaminade Award for Excellence in Counseling. I also completed EMDR Level 1 training in 2020 and am an Evergreen Certified Dementia Care Specialist.

Before entering the counseling profession, I spent many years working at the headquarters of a Fortune 500 company before later becoming a stay-at-home mother. These experiences gave me valuable insight into the demands of career, family life, caregiving, and major life transitions, all of which continue to inform my work with clients today.

I gained clinical experience through an internship at the student counseling center at Wittenberg University, where I worked with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, perfectionism, trauma, identity concerns, career-related stress, self-esteem challenges, relationship difficulties, and stress management issues. Since completing my internship, I have continued working in private practice.

In addition to my clinical work, I co-facilitated GOALS for OCD, a free support group offered twice monthly through Mental Health America of Ohio for individuals coping with obsessive-compulsive disorder. I also served for five years on the Executive Committee of the Central Ohio Counseling Association, where I supported professional collaboration, advocacy, and community engagement within the counseling field.

My approach to therapy is compassionate, collaborative, and nonjudgmental. I believe therapy should provide a supportive space where clients can better understand themselves, build on their strengths, and develop tools to navigate life’s challenges with greater confidence and resilience. My work is grounded in holistic wellness, positive psychology, and strengths-based approaches that support meaningful and lasting change.

I incorporate a range of evidence-based therapeutic approaches, including person-centered therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), solution-focused therapy, internal family systems (IFS), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), exposure and response prevention (ERP), and trauma-informed care. I work with individuals, couples, and families, supporting clients through mood disorders, relationship concerns, life transitions, career re-entry, caregiving stress, burnout, and existential concerns, while encouraging personal growth and overall well-being.
